MEET OUR GROUP LEADERS

The Arts & Leisure Operational Committee is made up of Group Leaders who will work together on developing the Operational Plan which will be a document that can be used as a point of reference and guide to the Vision and Mission of the Arts & Leisure Committee.  As a Committee, we are committed to an open and inclusive planning process for Arts & Leisure in Henry County.  Direct input and participation of community, industry and thought leaders, as well as other stakeholders, is a critical component for the creation of a successful Arts & Leisure Operational Plan.  To better manage the planning and public input process, the Arts & Leisure Committee has created working groups for eight topic areas with a Community Leader assigned to lead each group:  Fundraising & Finance, Entertainment & Night, Public Relations & Outreach, Research & Development, Events & Hospitality, Sports & Recreation, Digital Media & Technology, and Administrative Group.

Digital Media & Technology Group Lead

 Aisha White is the Digital Marketing Assistant for the Henry County Convention & Visitors Bureau.  As the Digital Media/Technology Leader, she is responsible for taking consumer-targeted web content from concept to publication by overseeing a diverse team of freelance contributors. They will delegate assignments to their group members and freelancers and will supervise contributors to ensure deadlines are met. They will also need to serve as the liaison to the One Henry Image and Communications committee.

GROUP OVERVIEW:

The Digital Media/Technology Group is responsible for maintaining the A&L aspect of the website and providing the general body with up to date information about projects and committee related news and events. The group will be responsible for creating an engaging web presence to help promote the committee/organization. Finally, the committee plans on utilizing an A&L database to archive all-important A&L files for future reference. The Digital Media/Technology Group will be at the forefront of this process.

Group Duties

  • Produce and publish new content in a creative way
  • Liaise with clients and in-house team members to decide on new posts
  • Oversee layout (images, graphics, videos and artwork)
  • Check content for accuracy
  • Proofread and edit material
  • Collaborate with professionals (e.g. web designers, marketing executives and photographers) to improve article presentation
  • Use SEO and social media
  • Ensure content is up-to-date
  • Comply with copyright and privacy regulations
  • Monitor website’s traffic to measure popularity
  • Be able to maintain quality and consistency across media types and web platforms and drive increased traffic and brand visibility.

Matthew Todd

Entertainment & Nightlife Group Leader
Matt's Bio
 Matthew Todd is a Local Dj and Owner of Matticus Live Entertainment,   He serve on the One Henry Arts & Leisure Committee as the Entertainment & Nightlife Group Leader.  In this role, Matt will attend and attract various events–from social functions, to community festivals, concerts, parties and more.  He will also function as an event promoter and is responsible for understanding the demographic he is trying to reach and the most appropriate forum to get the word out and produce good event attendance.

GROUP OVERVIEW:

The Entertainment & Nightlife group will be in charge of identifying and creating a Henry County nightlife and entertainment guide that helps residents and visitors discover the best of the best when it comes to Henry County lounges, nightclubs, bars and live music venues. They will also work as a form of outreach to get these venues involved and aware of the A&L committee.

Group Duties

  • Generate buzz for everything from concerts to parties, and get people in the door
  • develop strategic marketing plans to cover all available avenues of advertising in advance of the event
  • reach audiences through radio, television, print, and the Internet
  • making phone calls or visiting with newspapers, online event or community websites, radio stations and magazines
  • Posting events on social media sites, such as Twitter and Facebook
  • Assisting in the development or mailing of public relations materials, such as publicity folders.
  • Work closely with the club owners, event producers, ticket-sellers, and local vendors to ensure the highest possible profitability
  • Employ social networking or recruit street teams to pass out flyers and blanket the town with posters and generate word-of-mouth interest
  • Network and maintain a list of reliable contacts

Events & Hospitality Group Leader

 Cie Cie McGhee is the Event Manager at Merle Manders Conference Center.  She serves on the One Henry Arts & Leisure Committee as the Events & Hospitality Group Leader. As the Events & Hospitality Group Leader, Cie Cie has experience as a project manager who understands marketing and promotion techniques. She is responsible for overseeing and organizing events that will make an impact to a target audience. This leader will ensure events are successful and cost-effective, paying attention to budget and time constraints, ensuring an excellent experience to committee members and guests.

GROUP OVERVIEW:

The Events & Hospitality group will be in responsible for organizing all recruiting and committee involvement events.  Some of the events may include, but are not limited to, Social Mixers, Happy Hours, Young Professional Networking events, etc. The Events Chair will also be in charge organizing casual social functions within the organization to help bring members together.

 

Group Duties

  • Plan event from start to finish according to requirements, target audience and objectives
  • Come up with suggestions to enhance the event’s success
  • Prepare budgets and ensure adherence
  • Source and negotiate with vendors and suppliers
  • Be in charge of hiring personnel (DJs, waiters etc.)
  • Coordinate all operations
  • Lead promotional activities for the event
  • Supervise all staff (event coordinators, caterers etc.)
  • Approve all aspects before the day of the event
  • Ensure event is completed smoothly and step up to resolve any problems that might occur
  • Analyze the event’s success and prepare reports
  • Enforce adherence to regulations and quality standards

Fundraising & Finance Group Leader (Treasurer)

Judith Ogden is the Assistant Dean, MBA Director, and Associate Professor of Business Law Clayton State University and serves on the One Henry Arts & Leisure Committee as the Fundraising & Finance Group Leader (Treasurer).  As the Fundraising & Finance group leader, she also serves as the Treasurer.  Judith, with guidance from the rest of operational committee, is responsible for writing the A&L budget request for both Primary and Secondary budgetary phases.  The treasurer is also responsible for checking over the statements each month and meet with a representative from the One Henry Steering Committee (Treasurer) to resolve any issues.  They shall also serve A&L’s primary representative at all budget meetings acting as liaison to the One Henry Steering Committee.

GROUP OVERVIEW:

The Fundraising and Finance Group handles all donations, expenditures, and fundraising.  The main duty of the Finance Committee is to maintain a continuing review of the financial affairs of the Arts & Leisure Committee. Using this information, it is the committee’s duty to make appropriate recommendations to the Chair or the Steering Committee regarding financial matters.

Group's Duties

  • Establish such budget tracking and reporting standards as are appropriate to the needs of the committee.
  • Monitor Expenditures and Income and report significant variances to the committee.
  • Developing a strategic plan with kick-off and ending dates, and getting the information out to the community.
  • maintaining a database of professional contacts with information regarding when/if they have been contacted by the organization, by whom, if a donation was made and if so, when and what amount.
  • Other transactions or financial issues that management desires to have reviewed by the Finance Committee
  • Work with the Events & Hospitality group to promote awareness of the committee through various events such as Social Mixers, Young Professional Networking Events, etc
  • Encouraging committee members to get involved in fundraising and event planning. Find, recruit and train volunteers to help raise funds for Arts & Leisure projects.
  • Providing institutional support for seeking external funding for activities that serve the interests of the Arts community.
  • Review all previous year fundraising activity including Annual Appeal and make recommendations for improvements for new fiscal year

  • Demonstrates interest in managing accounting activities, including bank reconciliations, accounts payable and accounts receivable.

  • Have experience using financial software, Advanced MS Excel skills, Knowledge of financial regulations, excellent analytical and numerical skills, Sharp time management skills, Strong ethics, with an ability to manage confidential data.
  • Must be knowledgeable about the organization and its projects
  • Must be able to determine the needs of a project, the amount of money needed, and the kinds of events or appeals to be made.
  • The ability to compose grant proposals, follow the proposal guidelines and meet their requirements in grant requests.

Joy Caldwell

Public Relations & Outreach Leader
Joy's Bio
 Joy Caldwell is the PR and Marketing Coordinator for the Henry County Library System.  She serves on the One Henry Arts & Leisure Committee as the Public Relations & Outreach Leader.  In her role as the Public Relations & Outreach Leader, Joy is significant in establishing and promoting the corporate profile of the Arts & Leisure Committee. She is responsible for building a strong communications network around the committee that will ensure good relationship with the general public and rising awareness of the committee and its brand.

GROUP OVERVIEW:

The Public Relations Group is in charge of raising awareness of the committee in and outside of Henry County by creating and updating all A&L displays, flyers, posters, and anything that may be of assistance. They will be working with other of the committees groups in One Henry of similar interest. This may include work with other group leaders to create Presentations for professionals and support fundraising efforts.

  • Formulating PR plans and strategies
  • Enhancing the committee’s voice and presence through online and offline channels
  • Maintaining and managing media relations and requests
  • Assess opportunities for sponsorships and other partnerships and manage relations
  • Collaborating with marketing teams in promotional activities

  • Plan and supervise events, fairs, conferences etc.
  • Support the implementation of promotional plans
  • Present solutions in times of PR crisis
  • Facilitate the resolution of disputes with the public or external vendors
  • Lead survey initiatives and analyze public opinion
  • Analyze results of PR campaigns or efforts and prepare reports

Our ideal group member has strong copywriting and presentation skills.  Has experience in corporate communications, project management and social media. Is enthusiastic and has a pleasant personality.  They also have the following:

  • Proven experience as public relations executive or similar role
  • Proven experience in coordinating and managing effective PR campaigns through various channels
  • Solid knowledge of social media (blogs, Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; comfortable as a public speaker
  • Ability to build strong relationships with key people or organizations
  • A creative mind partnered with the ability to find the best practical solutions
  • Experience in copywriting and editing
  • Working knowledge of MS Office; photo and video-editing software is an asset

Sports and Recreation Group Leader

John's Bio

John Heatly is the president of YearroundsportsUSA LLC, an event management firm specializing in community enrichment, with the mission of youth development through education and athletic competition.  John is a graduate of University of Phoenix, where he earned a Bachelor’s in Science in Business Administration, and a Masters in Educational Leadership and Supervision.

During the last 20 years, John Heatly has worked in Education both at the high school and collegiate level as teacher, dean of students, and coordinator of dual enrollment for students in Louisiana, and Georgia.  John Heatly’s foundational pillars during this time has been in the development of young minds through classroom instruction partnered with athletic completion on the playing fields.

Athletically, John Heatly played football, basketball, volleyball, and ran track in high school.  John later received a scholarship to play basketball in College at John Brown University.  After playing basketball, John received an opportunity to train with the National Basketball Association as a basketball official where he used that experience to work for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) for the last 22 years as a college official.

John serves on the One Henry Arts & Leisure Committee as the Sports & Recreation Group Leader.  In this role, John will be responsible for overseeing the program development and evaluation of a broad range of programs and activities; providing leadership to and supervision of committee members and volunteers.  John and his group will be responsible for development and implementation of new sports initiatives while assisting with the organization and implementation of special sports related events in the community.  They will serve as a liaison between the sports and recreation community and One Henry.  They will work to create and cultivate strategic partnerships to ensure that the Sports & Recreation Group is delivering excellence in programming and customer service to the Henry County Community with the goal being able to provide the most comprehensive, inclusive, and progressive recreation and sport programs for youth and adults

John is happily married to his wife, Stephanie, for 22 years.  They have three children together, Jacoby, Jillian, and Joshua.  Natives of Louisiana, they presently reside in Locust Grove, Georgia where they have plans continue raising their family and working with the community.

Group Duties

The Sports and Recreation Group will be responsible for fostering the holistic development of youths and adults’ physical, social, and leadership development through sport and recreational activities within a fun and supportive environment.  The programs will provide an opportunity to compete at various levels, improve leadership skills, socialize, develop positive fitness practices, cultivate a connection to Henry County, explore the outdoors, and just have fun.  This group will assist with volunteer management, sports programming, event planning, program development and evaluation, and outreach to the Henry County youth population.

SPECIFIC GROUP DUTIES:

  • To identify, create and provide programs and services that encourage students to develop or enhance a healthy lifestyle.
  • To provide a range of activity choices in and around Henry County
  • Ensure that all programs and services are facilitated by top notch professional staff members and student assistants.
  • Assist with the Adult and Youth Sports programming and outreach to the community.
  • Observe competitive youth leagues, tournaments and practices.

Administrative Group Leader (Secretary)
Tynya's Role
Tynya Jones is a Case Manager for the Department of Human Services.  She serves on the One Henry Arts & Leisure Committee as the Administrative Group Leader (Secretary).  As the lead for this group, Tynya also serves as the Secretary who will be responsible for keeping minutes at general and executive meetings.  Her role as Secretary includes acting as the point of contact for internal and external One Henry committee members, liaise with other committee secretaries to handle requests and queries from Committee Chairs. The secretary is responsible for sending out the papers for the meeting. This will include, but is not limited to, the agenda, the minutes of the last meeting, and any papers for discussion or information. She will assist in committee needs and managing our committee’s general administrative activities.

Group Duties

This group will be responsible for maintaining email, membership, and attendance databases; and coordinate communication with group leaders and general committee.

SPECIFIC GROUP DUTIES:

  • Providing support to our Group Leaders and committee members
  • Help post meeting signs and email meeting reminders
  • Creating and editing of documents, brochures, promotional material/collateral
  • Assist in the finance committee with record keeping and other duties described in detail under that position
  • Maintain and annually update the Operational Plan.

  • The ideal candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to organize their work using tools, like MS Excel and office equipment. They should also have excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work. Pay attention to detail and have problem solving skills. Lydia's Bio

Lydia is a Haitian- American native of Brooklyn, New York now residing in McDonough, Georgia in Henry County. Prior to moving to Georgia, she worked as a Medical Billing specialist at Disston Chiropractic in Philadelphia for nearly eleven years.

She works as a branding expert and strategist who counsels small businesses owners, executives, and entrepreneurs in the process of maintaining, improving, and upholding a brand so that the name is associated with positive results by developing, implementing and executing marketing initiatives and activities so that brand can remain favorable to customers.

​Lydia authored the book entitled, “The Art Of Branding: A Simple & Practical Guide to Understanding the Branding Process” which is a short and simple guide that answers some of the most frequently asked questions about personal branding and why it’s an important piece of any entrepreneur’s life today.  The book is available on Amazon.com.

After relocating to Georgia in 2012, she served as the Public Relations Specialist for the Family Support Circle, A non-profit organization providing Afterschool and summer enrichment programming for children in need. She represented the interests of the organization in the community and taught Abstinence Education to the Middle School participants as a certified WAIT Trainer. She also oversaw the organizations Plan of Action Committee and Public Relations Committee by identifying and supporting volunteers and candidates for various positions. She now serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Family Support Circle, Inc.

​Lydia was brought on as the Director of Communications at the Henry County Chamber of Commerce in 2014, after years of managing email campaigns for small businesses & Entrepreneurs in New York, Philadelphia & Atlanta. Her foundation in public relations, in addition to her experience with small businesses and non-profits, contribute to her passion for helping organizations succeed. As a member of Henry County Chamber’s staff, Lydia handles the external and internal communications and has gained political experience by working on numerous campaigns in Georgia at the local level.

Through her affiliation with the chamber, Lydia became active as a leader in the business community and was named the chair for the One Henry Arts & Leisure Subcommittee.  One Henry is  a collaborative effort of various citizens, community groups/businesses, and the Henry County Chamber of Commerce for economic advancement.  The Arts & Leisure Subcommittee, which Lydia chairs,  is one of five subcommittees working under the One Henry header in an effort to move the county in a positive direction by focusing on key areas vital to strengthening economic viability and prosperity throughout Henry County.  VISIT ONE HENRY

Arts & Leisure Community Forum

Through excellent, engaging speakers, the Arts & Leisure Community Forum highlights topics that are current and relevant to the Arts & Leisure Community. The Forum is an open to the public morning event that is hosted at Arts & Leisure related businesses located in and around Henry County. It is an opportunity for the community to learn about the Arts & Leisure Committee, gain a better understand what is being done and by whom, have a question and answer period, and find out how to get involved.

The Arts & Leisure Community Forum is held monthly on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 9:00am-10:00am. In addition to the program, a tour of the company’s facility will immediately follow.

The Arts and Leisure Operational Committee will be electing several new members to our Advisory Group. We are looking for qualified experts who believe in our mission and are willing to serves as a consultative body and be active in their roles. If you, or someone you know, may be interested in being in a leadership role in the Arts & Leisure Committee, and is a qualified experts in their field (e.g., entertainment law, photography, professional athletes and Arts Teacher, Art Authentication, management, marketing, accounting, staffing, customer service, technology, and Culinary Arts etc.) and have experience in Arts, Leisure, Sport and/or Entertainment, then please nominate them today!
